http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000000416http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"Pea aphids are a major agricultural pest, feeding on a variety of legumes (Fabaceae) worldwide. Plant phloem sap feeding insects such as pea aphids depend on their obligate endosymbionts to furnish them with essential amino acids and/or vitamin cofactors. Pea aphids have only one major, often sole microbial symbiont, Buchnera, a maternally-transmitted gammaproteobacteria related to the Enterobacteriaceae. Depending on the aphid-Buchnera pair the capacity to synthesize at least 5 essential amino acids can be shared between the 2 partners. The aphid-Buchnera association has persisted for at least 160 million years and is obligate for both partners. This strain is an endosymbiont of the aphid Schizaphis graminum. It has 2 plasmids; pLeu-Sg (AC AF041836) and a Trp plasmid, which is represented by AC Z21938 (adapted from PMIDs 12089438 and 21392141). Buchnera from A. pisum and S. graminum have a three membrane system (one originating from the host, see PMID 22229056)."xsd:string
