http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000005237http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"C. japonica's genome is estimated to be approximately 100 Mb, roughly the size of the genome of the other Caenorhabditis species. The sequencing plan for C. japonica entails 9x whole-genome shotgun coverage of short insert plasmids and larger insert fosmid clones. Currently there is no publication announcing the finished sequencing project."xsd:string
http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000005237http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"C. japonica goes through four larval stages before becoming an adult. It can adopt an alternative life-form called the dauer larva, but unlike C. elegans it appears unaffected by the availability of space or food. Physically it differs from other Caenorhabditis species in having blunt spicule tips and it lacks a terminal notch in the bursa velum. In phylogenetic analysis C. japonica resides in a separate clade to C. elegans and C. briggsae making it the closest known out-group species."xsd:string
http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000005237http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"Caenorhabditis japonica is a non-parasitic nematode roundworm that resembles the nematode model organism C. elegans. However, unlike C. elegans and C. briggsae, which exist mainly as hermaphrodites, C. japonica is gonochoristic and adults are either male or female. C. japonica is found specifically in the nest of burrower bugs which reside on cabbage; the nematode feeding on dead eggs and adult bugs. C. japonica has only been isolated on the Japanese islands of Saga and Shikoku. "xsd:string
