In D. ambigua, D. immigrans and D. lebanonensis in situ hybridization assays reveal a single chromosomal location for Adh, which in D. lebanonensis appears to be sex linked. In contrast, in D. subobscura, D. madeirensis and D. guanche multiple sites of hybridization with homologous and heterologous probes are observed. For example, in D. subobscura and D. madeirensis the functional Adh gene is located on the U chromosome and additional homologous retrosequences are found on the E chromosome."xsd:string |
