The cDNA sequence predicted a protein of 542 amino acids and displayed 96% and 97% amino acid identity with the rat GLAST/GluT-1 and human GLAST, respectively. Expression of the bovine GLAST in Xenopus oocytes revealed Na(+)-dependent [14C]L-glutamate uptake and electrogenic glutamate uptake."xsd:string
