http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000000447http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"T.roseum is a non-motile, red-pigmented, rod-shaped, Gram-negative extreme thermophile. The type strain, DSM 5159 was isolated from Toadstool Spring, an alkaline siliceous hot spring in Yellowstone National Park USA. It grows optimally at 70-75 degrees C and pH 8.2-8.5. It possesses both an atypical cell wall dominated by a protein rich in proline, glutamate, glycine, and alanine, and an unusual cell membrane that is composed entirely of long-chain 1,2-diols. It contains a small amount of peptidoglycan which is probably essential as T.roseum is sensitive to penicillin. T. roseum is a deep-branching member of the Chloroflexi and analysis of its genome provides insights into the evolution of the Chloroflexi. It has a chromosome of just over 2 Mb and a megaplasmid of just under 1Mb. It is not photosynthetic but can use CO, and possibly H(2) as sources of both ATP and NADPH. Intriguingly the megaplasmid encodes what seems to be a complete flagellar apparatus, although this bacterium is not known to be motile, and it has a considerable number of genes predicted to be involved in chemotaxis (adapted from PubMed 19148287)."xsd:string
