http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000005622http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"Nematocida (Nematode killer fungus) is a microsporidia genus that contains two species; N. parisii and the provisionally named Nematocida sp1. As a natural fungal parasite of Caenorhabditis species, the Nematocida - C. elegans system provides a powerful model for studying microsporidian biology and pathogenesis. "xsd:string
http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000005622http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"The sequenced Nematocida sp.1 ERTm2 was collected from wild C. briggsae in India and propagated in the standard N2 laboratory strain of C. elegans. The resulting assembly of this isolate was 4.7Mb and contained 2720 protein coding genes. Sequence analysis suggests that this isolate is diploid, highly heterozygous and has undergone loss of heterozygosity. Phylogenomic analysis revealed the absence of the tumour-suppression gene retinoblastoma (RB) in all microsporidia. Retinoblastoma delays the first gap phase (G1) of the cell cycle and so its absence in microsporidia could enable rapid cell growth, which along with the presence of a rare sexual cycle to generate genetic diversity may contribute to the success of the parasitic microsporidia."xsd:string
