http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000007091http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"Micro-aerophilic, Gram-negative, slow-growing, spiral-shaped and flagellated organism. H.pylori is probably the most common cause of chronic bacterial infection of humans, present in almost half of the world's population. The presence of the bacterium in the gastric mucosa is associated with chronic active gastritis and is implicated in more severe gastric diseases, including chronic atrophic gastritis, peptic ulceration and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas. http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000007091http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"Strain B8 has been adapted to the Mongolian gerbil ulcer model system; it is derived from strain B128 which itself was isolated from a human patient suffering from peptic ulcers. B128 was adapted to gerbils by several subculturing steps and stomach passages of up to four weeks. B8 is able to induce severe gastritis as well as gastroduodenal sequelae over time in gerbils. B128 has been partially sequenced, and a comparison of the 2 shows that are about 50 genes that may be unique to B8 and thus may inform us about gerbil-adaptation process. Additionally B8 may have acquired the virulence mechanism encoded in the cag-PAI as well as other adjacent unknown genes via horizontal gene transfer (adapted from PMID 20507619)."xsd:string
