http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000008245http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"Sulcia muelleri DMIN is one of two endosymbionts found in the green sharpshooter Draeculacephala minerva, which is a prominent group of sap-feeding leafhoppers that are involved in the spread of the plant pathogen Xylella fastidiosa, which causes a number of serious plant diseases. The other bacterial symbiont is Candidatus Baumannia cicadellinicola, a gammaproteobacterium. The symbionts are vertically transmitted via eggs, and are found in a specialized host organ called a bacteriome. These bacteria are polyploid, with between 200-900 copies of the DNA per cell, which enabled sequencing of this DNA which was isolated from a single cell. This is the first single cell genome that has been closed and finished. The metabolic capabilities of Baumannia and Sulcia are complementary in that Sulcia is primarily responsible for the amino acid biosynthesis whereas Baumannia is devoted to cofactor and vitamin synthesis. There are 2 fusion proteins in strain DMIN not found in the related sharpshooter symbiont GWSS (SULMW). Sequencing of a pool of 25 adult hosts identified four regions with polymorphisms and 2 other single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (adapted from PMID 20428247)."xsd:string
