http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000007061http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"The genus Erwinia currently contains both plant pathogenic and nonpathogenic bacteria. The pathogenic Erwinia pyrifoliae strain Ep1/96 was isolated from Asian pear in Sout Korea in 1996 (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai); it is also known as CFBP 4171, and DSM 12162. Comparisons of the pathogenic Erwinia pyrifoliae strain Ep1/96 with this and another non pathogen Erwinia tasmaniensis Et1/99 indicates E.billingiae has just over 2000 unique genes compared to 600-900 for each of the other species. E. pyrifoliae carries factors for type III secretion and cell invasion. Other possible virulence factors for are involved in the production of exopolysaccharides, the utilization of plant metabolites such as sorbitol and sucrose (adapted from PMID 20565991)."xsd:string
