http://purl.uniprot.org/proteomes/UP000008690http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#comment"The genus Erwinia currently contains both pathogenic and nonpathogenic bacteria. Erwinia pyrifoliae is a newly described necrotrophic pathogen, which causes fire blight on Asian pear (nashi) and is geographically restricted to Eastern Asia. It causes fire blight disease symptoms essentially indistinguishable from those of E. amylovora infection, that is recurvature of shoots (shepherd's crook), necrosis, ooze, and cankers. It has somewhat reduced host range compared to E.amylovora. Both pathogen encode many of the same virulence factors, including two type 3 secretion systems (T3SS), sorbitol metabolism, exopolysaccharides, and desferrioxamine biosynthesis (E.amylovora is not fully sequenced as of March 2010). However, in E. pyrifoliae levan production and a third T3SS cluster are absent. Comparison to the genome of the non-pathogenic E. tasmaniensis Et1/99 (ERWT9) indicated an additional flagellar gene cluster, absence of AHL biosynthesis genes, and a modified range of iron acquisition systems which may play a role in pathogenicity (adapted from PMID 20047678)."xsd:string
